Chr. Hansen Peru celebrates the first 10 years

Since 2003 the only way has been up on the dynamic Peruvian market.

The Peruvian economy is relatively stable, supported by optimistic and confident consumers. Household consumption continues to grow; a middle class is emerging, increasing the demand for high quality food products, convenience, and luxury. Additional opportunities will appear as consumers are starting to pay more attention to health-oriented, organic, and eco-friendly food products.

Chr. Hansen Peru has been part of this transformation since the establishment on the Peruvian market in 2003 through the acquisition of the local company “Colorantes & Extractos”.

Rich resources and strong talent
"The past 10 years have been a journey and a transformation of our operations in Peru. Local sales have seen tremendous growth over the years led by extraordinary gains in cultures and natural colors. We are also developing Peru as a key hub for production in the Natural Colors Division leveraging the rich resources and strong talent that Peru has to offer," says David Singh, General Manager, Chr. Hansen Peru.

The first 9 months of the fiscal year 2012/13 ending in August saw 11% organic growth in the South American region (15% excluding the price effect relating to carmine, an important raw material for natural color production).

Grown 3.5 times
"Our production has grown 3.5 times since the beginning of the operations as Chr. Hansen Peru 10 years ago. We still have 26 employees who started with the company back in 2003 and today we have grown to almost 100. I am excited about the future; we are well positioned to seize the opportunities offered by the current economic development and market trends. We are stronger than ever before as we focus on the next chapter in our history,” concludes Singh.
