China: CCTV tv-spots on the Danish energy model

CCTV visited the Danish Energy Agency in November to do a TV-spot on the Danish energy model and a TV-spot on the use of biomass in the heating sector. CCTV interviewed the Danish Minister of Climate, Energy and Building and visited a decentralised straw fired district heating boiler in Borup.

China is currently focusing on using more Renewables to substitute coal and there are a lot of lessons to be learned from the Danish transition. Lessons learned that are made available through the Sino-Danish cooperation at the Chinese National Renewable Energy Center (CNREC) in Beijing. One of the immediate possibilities in the Chinese transition from coal to renewable energy is the decentralised heat production for district heating, where coal boilers could be substituted with straw or wood chips boilers. Such boilers have been widely installed in Denmark and CCTV therefore had a specific interest in showing the Chinese viewers how such a boiler looks like. The straw boiler visited is a 7,5 MW boiler with 94% efficiency and very low particle emissions due to an effective flu-gas filter.
