China: NDRC visits Denmark to study the use of waste in combined heat and power generation

Delegation from China’s key ministry of economic planning, the National Reform and Development Commission (NDRC), visits Denmark April 10-19.

The NDRC coordinates economic policy in China, including climate and energy policy. A delegation from the NDRC currently visits Denmark to seek inspiration from the Danish approach to green technologies focussing primarily on the use of waste in the generation of combined heat and power (CHP).

During the visit Anders Højgaard Kristensen from the Danish Energy Agency made a presentation on the history of Danish energy policy and outlined the Danish government’s energy policy goals towards 2050. The presentation put a emphasised the use of waste in Danish CHP generation, including the current plans to construct new modern plants. 

In addition to the visit at the Danish Energy Agency, the delegation’s programme also include visits to the Danish Ministry of the Environment, Amager Resource Centre, Copenhagen Green Cluster, Copenhagen Capacity, the municipality of Copenhagen, the Technical University of Denmark, and Aalborg University as well as a number of companies.
