China: Update on delegation visits during October 2014

The Danish Energy Agency (DEA) organised a seminar for the Chinese 3GF delegation

The Chinese delegation to the 3GF in Copenhagen 20-21 October was led by the Vice Minister of the National Energy Administration (NEA), Mr. H.E. Liu Qi, and included representatives of research institutes involved in the development of city energy concepts to promote renewable energy deployment and utilisation, such as the Energy Research Institute (ERI) and China National Renewable Energy Centre (CNREC).

The DEA assisted the delegation by organising a seminar on “Renewable Energy contribution to City Green Growth” as well as a Round Table discussion at the Confederation of Danish Industry with a number of green tech suppliers operating in China. The delegation also had the opportunity to meet with DONG Energy and get more insight into how Danish energy utilities carry out the transition from being fossil fuel based to continuously increase the share of renewable energy and how renewable energy is integrated effectively into the energy system.

Seminar on Renewable Energy Contribution to City Green Growth

The seminar on Renewable Energy contribution to City Green Growth was held as part of the Sino-Danish Cooperation on Energy in the Danish Ministry of Climate, Energy and Building on 20 October 2014 and was organised by DEA. The objective was to share experiences on green energy cities and integration of renewable energy in green urban solutions.

The participants were a large part of the Chinese delegation to the 3GF and representatives of the County of Hai Yan, while the municipalities of Copenhagen, Aarhus, Sonderborg and Flensburg also participated in the seminar.

The main subjects of the seminar were the processes in relation to implementation of national policy and regulation at municipal level. This included municipal climate plans and examples of municipal energy targets on supply and production. The seminar highlighted possible ways to go forward on green urbanisation, both in terms of policy and planning, energy supply and production, user approach as well as eco city development and city regeneration approaches.

The seminar underlined the common interest in promoting energy efficiency and renewable energy in an urban context and showed that the experiences shared are of great relevance for the development of the new energy cities and city green growth in China.

Delegation visit from Nanjing High-Tech Zone in Denmark

The Danish Energy Agency held a meeting on energy efficiency in buildings and green energy cities with a delegation from Nanjing High-Tech Zone and COWI on 30 October 2014. The delegation was led by the Deputy Director of the Nanjing High-Tech Zone Administrative Committee and included officials from Yanjiang Street Pukou Committee, Planning and Construction Bureau, Investment Promotion Bureau as well as Nanjing Bio-pharmaceutical Valley.

The Danish Energy Agency informed about the Danish experiences on the Danish building regulations and achievements in allowed energy demand for buildings. The role of Danish municipalities in implementing national energy policy through municipal planning and approach to city green growth was found very relevant by the delegation.
