English-language portal on climate change adaptation in Denmark

Press Release   •   Dec 08, 2009 01:00 CET

The most important sections of the Danish Portal for Adaptation to Climate Change (www.klimatilpasning.dk) have been translated into English and will be presented during COP15.

Professionals in climate change adaptation outside Denmark now have access to Danish knowledge about climate change impacts and climate change adaptation on an English-language version of www.klimatilpasning.dk, the Danish Portal for Adaptation to Climate Change. Here, you can also find concrete examples of how Danish individuals and central and local government have already adapted to climate change. The will help boost the exchange of experience and collaboration on climate change adaptation in Europe.

Since its launch in January 2009, the Danish Portal for Adaptation to Climate Change has enjoyed much interest from other European countries. Several European countries have or are in the process of developing similar portals on adaptation to climate change.

In addition to an interest in Danish knowledge on how to adapt to climate change in practice, exchange of experience is important for those countries that are in the process of establishing a portal of their own.  At EU level, work to create a clearing centre, a European portal for adaptation to climate change, is in progress. The clearing centre is to supplement the knowledge available on national portals and focus, in particular, on regional climate change and the need for climate change adaptive measures across national borders.

At the Danish Portal for Adaptation to Climate Change you can also find predictions about the future climate in Denmark. You can see the impacts of climate change in a number of different areas, and what can be done to adapt to a changing climate. The portal is aimed at both individuals, local government and businesses.
