Exploration well Chabazite-1 in the North Sea did not discover oil or gas

As operator for the licensee in licence 4/06B Wintershall Noordzee B.V. has drilled the Chabazite-1 (5503/3-4) exploration well in the western part of the Danish North Sea. The well did not discover oil or gas.

Chabazite-1 was drilled as a vertical well with Palaeocene/Upper Cretaceous chalk as target. The well  reached its total depth in Upper Cretaceous chalk at 3001 metres depth below mean sea level. An extensive logging programme was carried out.

Chabazite-1 was spudded on 20 June 2014 with the jack-up rig ENSCO 121 at the position 55° 52’ 35.044" N; 03° 43’ 19.435" E (UTM zone 31; 6,192,695.63 m N; 545,179.03 m E), where the water depth is 56 metres.

The well is being plugged and abandoned and ENSCO 121 will subsequently be moved to the Dutch sector.
