Meeting Summary from the Global NAMA Financing Summit in Copenhagen, May 15 - 17, 2013

Meeting summary is now available from the Global NAMA Financing Summit in Copenhagen, hosted by the Danish Climate, Energy and Buildings Ministry and Center of Clean Air Policy (CCAP), click here. The Summit was part of CCAP’sMitigation Action Implementation Network (MAIN) initiative, which is supported by Denmark, Germany and Canada.

The Summit made significant progress in moving transformational Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs) toward implementation and catalyzing support for these actions.  High-level developing-country officials presented to potential funders 14 NAMAs across various sectors.  Key contributing countries from both puclic and private financing sources including, development banks, international finance institutions, and private sector CEOs, provided constructive feedback on NAMAs in breakout sessions, participated in roundtable discussions on NAMA design and finance, and presented on available NAMA-related climate finance.

The high level session was opened by Climate, Energy and Buildings Minister, Martin Lidegaard, who inter alia stressed the importance of including the private sector to fund climate related projects

Germany and the United Kingdom used the forum to announce the guidelines and selection criteria for their recently-launched and path-breaking International NAMA Facility, which will provide €70 million initially for the implementation of NAMAs.

NAMA presentations showed the progress that countries have made in the last years and demonstrated to potential funders that a robust pipeline of NAMAs will be seeking support and investment over the coming months.

Presentations, NAMA concept notes, two-page NAMA executive summaries, and photos can also be accessed here (via Dropbox).
