E-mobility experts guests of DEFA during Almedalen Week

DEFA will be giving a number of carefully planned cutting-edge seminars at this year's Almedalen Week, focusing on expansion of the charging infrastructure for electric cars. Christina Bu, the experienced and influential CEO of the Norwegian Electric Vehicle Association, will also be participating in order to add further depth and dimension to the discussions. As an e-mobility expert, Christina Bu advises car manufacturers, politicians and authorities all over the world. She will now be attending Almedalen with DEFA for the first time.

- The purpose of my participation in Almedalen is to swap experiences across national borders with regard to the expansion and digitisation of charging infrastructures. DEFA is a leading supplier and hence a vital force, and it has valuable experience of supplying large volumes and over longer periods of time, says Christina Bu.

In Norway, almost 50% of new cars sold are EV;s or Plug in hybrids. We are not seeing these huge volumes in Sweden at present, but Sweden is one of the fastest growing markets in Europe. For our charging options to be established correctly, it is important for us to learn from what has been achieved in Norway, the country with the highest proportion of electric cars anywhere in the world. The charging infrastructure in Sweden is different in some regards and we have different pre-requisites, with a greater level of digitisation and an electricity network providing a 3-phase option.

- We are doing a lot of the right things in Sweden, we have made a great deal of progress as regards digitisation and smart payment solutions. We have taken on the global charging protocol OCPP, and with the political incentives Klimatklivet and Ladda Hemma we have every chance of focusing on safe, robust solutions. In particular the issue of digital solutions and how power will be shared when lots of people use electric cars are high on the agenda in the Norwegian market, and this is something to build on. As a stakeholder with extensive experience of business in both the automotive industry and the installation industry both in Norway and elsewhere in the world, we want to debate and share the various conceivable formulas here at DEFA. What happens now, and how do we expand upon the charging infrastructure?  We are looking forward to challenging and vigorous discussions with Christina, says Charlotte Eisner, Global Sales and Market Director at DEFA e-mobility and Lighting.
