Maker Space

At Mynewsdesk we try to be in the forefront of learning new things, and what could fit better, and be more buzzword compliant, than the Internet of Things. At our last yearly conference – The People Days – we were visited by Daniel Peterson from SapientNitro that gave an interesting presentation at the subject.

To get a more hands experience in this area we bootstrapped our own Maker Space last week. We have done some labs in electronics before, but this is a more social learning experience.

A few of us Mynewsdeskers met up after work and brought our geek kits of electronic components, Arduinos, Raspberry Pi’s, butchered RC tanks and more. It was a great night and we built light generated noise-makers, a potentiometer controlled Pong-game and a nice RGB-led effect. Not to forget re-energizing ourselves at the local burger joint.

It would be fun to develop this concept further! We’re already looking at the possibility of buying a 3D-printer to move our creations into the real world. And we would love to have external makers joining us to share the fun! If you would like to join us in the future, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
