Klarna, the company that makes it simple and safe to shop online, has processed 50 million transactions since it was founded in 2005. Over 8 million consumers in 7 countries have used Klarna.
”We are very proud of the fact that we can make it simpler and safer to shop online for so many consumers in Europe. When we started this journey in 2006 there were many who avoided shopping online because they felt it was unsafe. This year we have seen many people who have done all their Christmas shopping online, a clear sign that simple and safe online shopping is here to stay”, says Sebastian Siemiatkowski, founder and CEO, Klarna.
2.5 million Swedes will, for instance, buy their Christmas presents online in 2012. During the last 12 months as many as 4 million Swedes have shopped online with Klarna.
Klarna reached 30 million transactions in December 2011 and 40 million in August 2012, which shows that the growth has increased dramatically.
Most transactions 2012 are in Sweden, approximately 12 million, but the other markets Germany, Holland, Finland, Norway, Austria and Denmark are all growing tremendously.
A product that will accelerate further growth even more, Klarna Checkout, was launched during the fall. It has led to a substantial increase in the number of consumers who complete their purchases, in combination with a much simplified purchasing method.
