MCI FURTHER EXPANDS ITS PRESENCE IN THE NORDICS REGION BY ACQUIRING EVENT AGENCY INITIATIV ADDING LOCAL KNOWLEDGE TO THE COMPANY’S PORTFOLIO

Copenhagen, 19^th December 2016. MCI’s business unit operating in Copenhagen, Gothenburg and Stockholm, announces the acquisition of Initiativ, a full-service company of corporate events and incentive management based in Sweden. 

Trine Steffensen, new Managing Director of MCI Nordics, said: “We are excited to welcome Initiativ to our growing team; this acquisition confirms our company’s leading position within the local MICE market andis directly associated with our vision of expanding and strengthening our presence in the Nordics as we are aiming at doubling the size of our local operations by 2020.”

In June 2016 the company also purchased the Danish industry-leading business ICS, making this the second big acquisition in the Nordics region in a period of 6 months. This acquisition reflects on the growth strategy that MCI Nordics has been following and in addition to the generation of prospective new business, it delivers additional value to local clients as MCI Nordics will now showcase a truly unique service portfolio to the market.

With the implementation of new innovative practices in the wide range of products and services offered to existing and clients, MCI Nordics will also focus on expanding their consulting services to the local market. MCI Nordics business profile includes the services of professional congress organisation (PCO), destination management (DMC), association management (AMC) in addition to the production of corporate meetings and incentives. Most notable milestone in 2016 the Scandinavian branch has been the successful accommodation coordinator for the ESMO Congress, handling more than 10.000 rooms in October in Copenhagen.
