MCI JOIN FORCES WITH INDUSTRY LEADERS IN FIRST-EVER GLOBAL MEETINGS INDUSTRY DAY

Copenhagen – April 12th 2016.

The MCI Group, a global leader in engaging and activating audiences through innovative meetings, events, association and congresses, will rally with hundreds of industry leaders across the world on Thursday, April 14th 2016 to celebrate the first Global Meetings Industry Day.

Following the success of North American Meetings Industry Day (NAMID) held in 2015, the Convention Industry Council and the Meetings Mean Business coalition decided to expand worldwide. By recruiting individuals and organisations from every corner of the globe GMID intends to shine a light on the real impact meetings and events have on businesses, economies and communities.

“It’s imperative to invest our time and money in meetings. Our destinations and Convention & Visitors Bureaus around the world rely on meetings to fuel the economy in the sense of jobs and bringing people together to collaborate on services and products.” - Michael Gehrisch, President and CEO, Destination Marketing Association International.

Hosting an event, convention or trade show stimulates a region’s economy by bringing in a new group of visitors that stay in area hotels, eat in local restaurants, shop in neighbourhood stores and bring new revenue to the local community. A leader in the meetings and events industry, MCI has been steadily expanding its services to all corners of the globe, supporting hundreds of local communities over the years. In 2015 alone, MCI produced 5,100 projects across 80 countries engaging with over 1.5 million people.

“We are passionate about bringing people together not only to help forge deeper relationships but because we believe in the power of community on organisations, may they be companies or associations. Working towards shared goals drives to economical results in organisational and local communities alike.” - Sebastien Tondeur, Chief executive Officer, MCI Group.

The campaign’s core objectives are to shape the industry’s future as well as to discuss the impact of meetings with people outside the industry. Meeting and event industry association chapters, corporations, destinations, partners and more are being encouraged to hold events in destinations all across Europe, North America and South America to support this day of advocacy by putting emphasis on:

  • Personal relationships are at the core of every business decision and face-to-face meetings provide professionals with that personal interaction, which leads to deeper relationships.
  • Meetings and events deliver profits, help win new accounts, serve as education platforms and allow colleagues and partners to come together to innovate and achieve results.
  • The events and meetings industry creates hundreds of thousands of jobs, generates billions of dollars of revenue and supports communities across the globe.
