Portishead confirmed for NorthSide

Pressemeddelelse   •   Dec 18, 2012 12:15 CET

Ellie Goulding will join the British triphop pioneers at the Danish festival

Having already announced nine acts for NorthSide 2013 the plan was to go on Christmas vacation and come back strong with more names for the poster next year. But when the opportunity suddenly arose to give the audience some early Christmas presents in the form of the addition of two award-winning English acts, we just couldn’t help ourselves.

Portishead debuted in 1994 with the groundbreaking album "Dummy", which secured them a Mercury Prize and a place in the history books as pioneers of the exciting triphop scene. The success continued with the album "Portishead", which, unfortunately, was followed by a long break from both studio and concert life. But in 2008 Portishead returned with the long awaited album "Third", which was worth the wait in every way, and it is a great honour to now be able to present one of this phenomenal group’s rare concerts at NorthSide 2013.

Portishead will play Northside on Sunday the 16th June.

In 2010, Ellie Goulding exploded onto the British music scene with the album "Lights", which went platinum twice in her home country, and earned her the Critics' Choice Award at the Brit Awards the same year. The following year the title track from the album was released as a single in the U.S., and here it went platinum three times and lifted her to international stardom. Clearly, the 25-year-old soprano took this as an invitation to challenge her talent, so when she released "Halcyon" earlier this year, it was clear that she had undergone a rapid progression and had positioned herself as one of the brightest talents on the English scene. We have high hopes for the concert with the English star, whom we are very pleased to have persuaded to stop by Aarhus.

Ellie Goulding will play Northside on Sunday the 16th June.

The list of announced acts for NorthSide 2013 are as follows: Arctic Monkeys, Band of Horses, The Eclectic Moniker, Ellie Goulding, The Flaming Lips, Fun., Nephew, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Portishead, Trentemøller, and When Saints Go Machine.

NorthSide 2013 can be experienced in Aarhus, Denmark on June 14th-16th. Tickets can be purchased through
