Panalpina globally certified to new standard ISO 9001:2015

Panalpina is committed to high-quality service for its customers, running a quality program that is based on certifications according to internationally recognized standards including ISO 9001.

The company recently completed an audit by the world's leading inspection, verification, testing and certification company SGS, that recommended it for certification to the new ISO 9001:2015 Quality standard as well as for recertification to ISO 14001:2015 Environment and OHSAS 18001 Health and Safety.

Globally certified to all the latest standards of quality, health, safety and environment

“Panalpina implemented the new version of the ISO 9001 standard in 2017, and was the first freight forwarding and logistics company to be globally certified by SGS to this new standard,” says Elvira Bieri, managing director SGS Switzerland. “The audits spanned the whole value chain, from development and production, to sales.”

While Panalpina was already globally certified to the previous version of the ISO 9001 standard, this new version required revisiting all of the documentation of processes and procedures, training staff on the new expectations, and disseminating the information globally throughout the organization. Panalpina’s corporate, regional and country QHSE (quality, health, safety and environment) teams were the effective backbone of this process.

In addition, Panalpina was recertified globally to the standards ISO 14001: Environment and OHSAS 18001 Health and Safety. Panalpina is now the only multinational provider of supply chain solutions to achieve global certification to ISO 9001:2015, OHSAS 18001, and ISO 14001. “The global certification to all the latest standards of quality, health, safety and environment is once again a clear commitment to all of our stakeholders – be it our customers, staff, subcontractors, partners, suppliers or official bodies,” says Lindsay Zingg, global head of QHSE at Panalpina.

“As part of the annual external audit process, Panalpina’s management and staff demonstrated a high-level of commitment to the quality management process and there was a high alignment between corporate policies and local operations,” adds Bieri, noting that “In terms of performance, Panalpina is in the top five percent of companies that we audit globally for QHSE.”
