Pohjois-Karjalan Sähkö Oy to transfer controlling and monitoring of it's 10 hydroelectric power plants to Empower

Empower will be in charge of controlling and monitoring of ten power plants owned by Pohjois-Karjalan Sähkö Oy (PKS) during the autumn of 2017. After transferring the reigns to Empower, power plants will be monitored 24 hours a day at the Empower control room in Porvoo. PKS power plants are located in Pielisjoki, Puntarikoski, Jänisjoki (4 pcs), Puhos, Kuokkastenkoski, Louhikoski and Palokki. In addition to the technical supervision and control of power plants, the agreed service package includes electricity market services from production planning to electric trade, measurement and messaging services.

We selected Empower, as it was able to offer a sufficiently wide range of services for us and act as a strategic partner. Also previous good experiences of our cooperation helped to make the decision in Empower’s favor", says power plant manager Jari von Becker from PKS.

Pohjois-Karjanlan Sähkö has been Empower’s customer for a long time in electricity procurement and measurement services. "It's a pleasure to extend our existing customer relationship to a new area and deepen our partnership", says business manager Ville Tuominen from Empower. "This agreement strengthens our position as Finland's leading provider of control services for hydroelectric power plants, since by the end of the year, our Porvoo control room will be in charge of a total of 53 power plants monitoring in Finland."
