Nordic Leaders Merge To Become Global Retail Software Disruptor

Visma Retail And Extenda Join Forces To Offer A Compelling Proposition Delivering Innovative, Enterprise Wide Solutions To The Retail Industry.

Stockholm - 20th September 2018. Visma Retail and Extenda, two of the most prominent technology providers in the tier 1 & 2 retail industry are excited to announce the signing of an agreement where STG Partners will acquire the two companies. Simultaneously, the two companies will be merged into one entity. The deal is expected to formally close on 1st October 2018.

The Visma Group, a leading regional player in cloud software for SMB, public sector and enterprise customers has decided to divest the software focused entities of its Visma Retail division. “The retail division is expanding into new markets, and we believe that they will benefit under new ownership dedicated to developing their business and help them grow even further in the European market”, said Visma CEO Øystein Moan.

Extenda is a privately held company headquarted in Stockholm. Extenda offers a leading international POS (Point of Sale) solution with an impressive tier-1 customer base. “I am strongly supporting this merger with Visma Retail and the new ownership. It will strengthen the company to reach global leadership. The new group will enforce our products and provide opportunity and value for our customers and employees”, said Peter Carlman, founder and Chairman of Extenda.

Together the companies serve some of the leading retailers in the Nordics as well as major international Tier 1 retailers with the most demanding requirements in the industry.

This merger forms a new independent company owned by STG Partners. STG Partners is a California based private equity firm, focused on investing in innovative software, data, and analytics companies. STG has extensive experience in software innovation and a great track record in the retail high tech industry. “Extenda and Visma Retail are both leaders in innovation and extremely complementary to one another in terms of strengths, product capabilities, and culture. In the new organisation, Peter Fischer, currently Division Director of Visma Retail will be CEO of the new company and Håkan Valberg, currently CEO of Extenda, will be the COO of the new company. The name of the new company will be Extenda Retail.
