Suomalais-englantilainen Altogame start-up yhteistyöhön Alder Hey lasten sairaalan kanssa Englannissa – tavoitteena terveydenhoidon tehostaminen virtuaalisilla hyötypeleillä

Suomalais-englantilainen hyötypeli -startup Altogame aloittaa yhteistyön englantilaisen Alder Hey NHS lasten sairaalan kanssa Liverpoolissa. Tavoitteena on soveltaa Altogamen virtuaalista monipelaaja - ja simulaatioympäristöä yhteistyön ja innovaatiokyvykkyyden vahvistamiseen, sekä kouluttaa henkilöstöä tehokkaammin. Myös soveltuvuus nuorten mielenterveyspalveluhin testataan. Viimeksi mainitun osalta ensitestit nuorten ryhmällä tuottivat erittäin positiivista palautetta – “idea 10, toteutus 9” ja “tämä pitää saada heti kouluihin”.

Altogame on joustava, peliteknologiaa hyödyntävä, virtuaalinen monipelaajakeskusteluympäristö. Sen avulla voidaan tehostaa tuloksia ja vähentää kustannuksia merkittävästi. Altogame-alustalle rakennetuissa erilaisissa sovelluksissa osallistujat voivat innovoida uusia ratkaisuja tai harjoitella haastavia tosielämän tilanteita yhdessä.

Altogame (AG Immersive Learning Simulations) on Alder Hey lasten sairaalan innovaatiokeskuksen ja Cambridgen yliopiston innovaatiokeskuksen jäsen (ensimmäisenä suomalaisena start-up -yrityksenä). Yritys osallistuu tällä hetkellä myös kahteen startup-ohjelmaan Englannissa: 1) Educate – Better Edtech, Better Learning / Knowledge Lab / Institute of Education / University College London sekä 2) Reactor - Applied Games / Anglia Ruskin Yliopisto.

Altogame applied games aims to enhance operations at Alder Hey Children´s Hospital

Thanks to the European Regional Development Fund (EDRF) funded Health Innovation Exchange project, Alder Hey has formed a collaboration partnership with a Finnish-British start-up company Altogame. The purpose is to trial the Altogame social dramagame platform within the Trust, using applied games and simulations to enhance collaboration and innovation and to train people more efficiently. Also the applicability to enhance young peoples´ mental health is being included.
Altogame´s virtual 3D platform transforms the way people innovate, collaborate and learn. It breaks down barriers and removes hierarchy providing a level playing field for creative problem solving and learning. Through its virtual multiplayer simulations, people can also safely practice complex real-life situations through real-time role-play. These situations can include for example difficult conversations with patients or teamwork in an operating theatre.

Using the Altogame platform, healthcare professionals can be trained efficiently without having to disrupt their clinical commitments. The benefits include improved operational safety and efficacy, enhanced customer or patient experience, increased workforce mobility, employee engagement and satisfaction.

The use case of enhancing young people´s mental health and alleviateing pressure on related mental health services showcase the flexibility of the Altogame platform.

About Alder Hey: Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust provides care for over 275,000 children and young people every year. Alder Hey delivers clinical excellence for all children, for routine illnesses as well as very complex and rare conditions.

One of four stand-alone children’s hospitals in the UK, it is a national centre for neuro and craniofacial surgery, a regional centre for burns injuries and a Centre of Excellence for children with cancer, heart, spinal and brain disease.
