Tikkurila to donate the interior paints for the New Children's Hospital in Helsinki

Tikkurila Oyj will support the New Children's Hospital 2017 project in Finland by donating the interior paints for the hospital. The donation will be published on Saturday, 14 December, at the final concert of the singer Jari Sillanpää's tour 'Liekeissä/In Flames' at Hartwall Areena, Helsinki.

"Our company turned 150 in 2012. In honour of our anniversary, we introduced 'Sustainable Beauty', a program for social responsibility, and through it, we have contributed to many projects in the countries where we operate. The Children's Hospital is a joint effort for the Finnish people, and an excellent example of social responsibility," says Mr Erkki Järvinen, President and CEO of Tikkurila Oyj.

Tikkurila wants to enhance the well-being of children, young people, adults, and the elderly by actively participating in projects where paint and colors create joy, comfort, and sustainable beauty in various spaces and environments. In hospitals, paints and coatings can be used to create surfaces that fulfil the most stringent requirements of durability and hygiene, and colors can contribute to the wellbeing and recovering of people of all ages. Paints produced by the Tikkurila Group are also used at the Nya Karolinska Solna University Hospital in Stockholm that will be completed in 2017, the same year as the Helsinki New Children's Hospital.

"We are very grateful for Tikkurila's major donation to the New Children's Hospital. It is great that a traditional Finnish industrial company is joining the effort. The starting point for planning the hospital will be how children will experience the place, both visually and emotionally, and colors play an important role here," says Ms Anne Berner, Chair of the New Children's Hospital 2017 project.
