Fjällräven launches stylish Kånken No. 2 Black Edition

In August, Fjällräven is further expanding its Kånken backpack collection with a new all-black Kånken. Kånken No. 2 Black Edition is made from black G-1000 HeavyDuty fabric with detailing and handles in black leather.

Kånken backpacks were developed in the late 1970s by Fjällräven founder Åke Nordin to make carrying heavy books and folders easier for Swedish children. And it was this need to carry A4 binders to and from school that defined the now highly characteristic Kånken shape.

Since then, the bags have spread across the world and are seen on the backs of people of all ages and nationalities. And although Kånken is now available in more sizes and colours than ever, and the No. 2 addition comes in enduring G-1000 HeavyDuty fabric, very little has changed in the charming, much-loved design.

But with its understated, one-colour simplicity, Kånken No. 2 Black Edition is an exciting addition to the Kånken Family, that will further expand the appeal of this classic backpack.

This new edition Kånken comes in two sizes: the regular Kånken No. 2 Black Edition and the 15” laptop version, which includes a separate zippered laptop compartment. Both are made from the hardwearing, double-waxed G-1000 HeavyDuty material that makes the No. 2 bag so durable.

About Kånken

Kånken was brought to life in 1978 to help prevent back problems that were emerging among Swedish school children. It has now spread to all corners of the world and is available in a variety of colours, sizes and models.

Right from the beginning, sustainability has been a natural part of Kånken. Kånken’s straight lines mean there’s almost no waste when the pattern parts are cut from the fabric. And the shoulder straps are made from a single, long piece of webbing that’s integrated with the back handle. Plus in 2008, Kånken became the world’s first climate compensated backpack.
