ALICE & SMITH TO DEVELOP HACKING SIMULATION GAME INSPIRED BY FUNCOM’S THE SECRET WORLD MMO
Montreal, Canada - October 14, 2016 – Alice & Smith, a Montreal and Toronto-based game studio, announced today that it is developing NITE Team 4, a story-driven military hacking simulation game inspired by Funcom’s massively multiplayer online game The Secret World. Exploring the world of cyberwarfare, NITE Team 4 will be released on Steam for PC and Mac in early 2017.
To expand the game’s potential, Alice & Smith recently launched a Kickstarter campaign (Visit Kickstarter) which includes various stretch goal for PVP modules, player malware crafting, mission editors and more. Players will have the ability to influence the development process of NITE Team 4 by voting on the main story, helping build lore and design key NPCs and factions.
NITE Team 4 is developed and published by Alice & Smith, and Funcom will contribute with select tie-ins to The Secret World online game. This includes a hacking mission to be released within The Secret World and a special cross-universe ARG (What is an ARG?) quest available to the communities of both games. NITE Team 4 will be infiltrating The Secret World with a military-style backpack gear item, available free to all players. Funcom and Alice & Smith are also collaborating on limited edition NITE Team 4 uniforms for The Secret World players, and other enticing rewards available exclusively to owners of both games.
This is not the first time Funcom and Alice & Smith have worked together. The Black Watchmen, a Permanent Alternate Reality Game available on Steam, was central to two major ARGs in The Secret World - Gate 33 and End of Days. The Secret World is a popular MMORPG that has been running for over 4 years with a unique modern-day setting and unparalleled storytelling. The narrative explores the possibility that every myth, conspiracy theory and urban legend is true - a world where players align with secret societies and face the looming darkness.
