Honda cars shipped to Port of Gothenburg

Honda has chosen the Port of Gothenburg as its new port of entry. All Honda Civics and Honda CR-Vs for the Swedish and Danish markets will now be brought in via Gothenburg, totalling 8,000 vehicles each year.

"This will reinforce the Port of Gothenburg's role as the leading vehicle port in the Nordic region," says Magnus Kårestedt, President of the Port of Gothenburg.

The two Honda models, the Civic and the CR-V, are produced in Swindon in southern England. The vehicles where previously shipped to Malmö but from September they will be shipped on DFDS Tor Line vessels from Immingham in the UK to Gothenburg. The higher departure frequency between the UK and Sweden was one of the reasons why Honda chose to change its port of entry.

Last year 320,000 vehicles were imported or exported through the Port of Gothenburg. In terms of number, the Port of Gothenburg is the largest vehicle port in Sweden. The makes that are now represented at the port are Volvo, Saab, Nissan, Subaru, Ford, Land Rover, Renault, Opel, Jaguar, Cadillac and Chevrolet.
