Press release -

“Road to Revolution” with full house

January 28th 2014

beActive’s most recent project, the documentary “Road to Revolution” had its debut last night in Vila do Conde (North of Portugal) with full house and a sense of “mission accomplished”.

This special screening was hosted by beActive and Dânia Lucas, the documentary director, but also had the presence of the authors of the project, the journalist Tiago Carrasco and the cameraman João Fontes, as well as the entire production team.

Honoured last year with the Gazeta Multimédia Prize awarded by the Portuguese Journalists Club, the documentary “Road to Revolution” was also selected last Summer to join the prestigious Raindance Film Festival in London.

The documentary focuses on the consequences of the Arab Spring through the eyes of three Portuguese men: Tiago Carrasco (journalist), João Fontes (cameraman) and João Henriques (photographer), with production, editing and direction of the documentary signed by young Dânia Lucas, which makes her debut in feature films.

“Road to Revolution” is the culmination of a long journey that started in January 2012. The trip took place in the Middle East and could be followed on the Internet through Blogs, WebDocs and hundreds of photographs. The 90 min documentary is the result of more than 200 hours recorded over four months of traveling for nine countries in the Middle East and the Maghreb.

“Road to Revolution” is a documentary produced by Portuguese studio company beActive (responsible for several teen hits such as Sofia’s Diary, T2 for 3, Beat Girl, Collider and already nominated for 2 Emmys Awards in the last 4 years). This is the first beActive’s foray into the documentary genre and it is one  more multiplatform project produced by this company, with over one decade of activity specialised in the development and production of entertainment formats and multiplatform/transmedia content.

In Portugal, “Road to Revolution” had its debut on January 26th and will be released in cinemas next February 13th. Meanwhile, the TV version of the “Road to Revolution” documentary is being negotiated with several TV channels worldwide and will also be presented at the next MIPTV.
