Documentary Palme receives Victor Film Award

The documentary film Palme, about the former Swedish prime minister, was awarded this year’s prize for best film of the year in Stockholm-Mälardalen.

The jury explained:
This year, the award goes to a film that takes us back to the shots on Sveavägen, the occupation of the student union building, the Norrmalmstorg drama, the visionary suburb of Vällingby and the limestone beaches of Gotland. Here, Stockholm and the progressive post war era form a magnificent foundation for a continuously exciting portrayal of one the most colorful Swedish politicians.

“It’s incredibly fun each time a great film is given prominence, and even more so when the story is based in the city where we live and work.” said Matthias Nohrborg, producer at B-Reel, the Stockholm-based production company.

The film has received rave reviews, and in two months, it has been seen by 220,000 people in cinemas across Sweden, making it the country’s most-viewed documentary in 30 years.

Maud Nycander and Kristina Lindström directed the movie. Fredrik Heinig and Mattias Nohrborg at B-Reel produced the film.
