Stockholm chosen to host major life science congress

The international organizer for life science conferences, EBD Group, has decided to arrange their main conference, Bio Europe Spring, in Stockholm April 2016.  It is the first time the city will host the event. EBD Group explained its decision by highlighting Stockholm's strong position in life sciences and its excellent reputation for organizing international conferences.

"BioEurope Spring is the leading European conference within life sciences. I am happy that the conference will be held in Stockholm in 2016. This is something we have been working on for a long time, and a factor that reinforces Stockholm's position as one of Europe's leading regions within the life science sector. It will also be an opportunity to increase knowledge of our region and highlight our research," says Ylva Hultman, Business Development Manager Life Sciences at the Stockholm Business Region Development.

Stockholm was selected in competition with several other European cities. The conference is expected to attract approximately 2 300 delegates from around the world to the Kistamässan convention center. The congress takes place between April 4-6, 2016. The delegates represent both leading researchers as well as the life sciences industry.

"This type of conference puts Stockholm on the map for researchers, companies and investors from around the world. We work hard to make the city an attractive location for this type of event," says Karin Mäntymäki, Director of Meetings and Conventions at Stockholm Visitors Board.
