Stockholm companies gearing up to fight antibiotic resistance

Infectious diseases are a global problem and one of the world's most urgent health threats due to antibiotic resistance. The Stockholm-Uppsala region is leading the way in finding solutions to the looming problems. Invest Stockholm has identified the most interesting new companies determined to fight infectious diseases.

Despite the alarming threats associated with antibiotic resistance and new pathogens being discovered on a regular basis, there is a relative lack of global funding for research into infectious diseases. The Stockholm-Uppsala region differs in this regard, and has several awarding bodies that support the development of innovations within the field. On September 13-14 at Nordic Life Science Days, Invest Stockholm presents eight of the next generation infectious disease companies.

"With its concentration of resources and long history of scientific collaborations, the Stockholm-Uppsala region has produced some of the world’s most innovative life science companies. Now we’re excited to present the new commercial opportunities within infectious diseases, that stem from years of hard work and research", says Ylva Hultman, Business Development Manager at Invest Stockholm.

The companies will present a wide range of infectious disease innovations, including methods and products for prevention, detection and identification, rapid diagnostic AST, treatment and faster development of better and more efficacious new drugs.

Companies include: Abera Bioscience, Double Bond Parmaceutical, Eurocine Vaccines, Gradientech, Pelago Bioscience, Q-Linea, Scandinavian Biopharma and SinSa Labs. Meet them at Nordic Life Science Days on September 13 at 11:15 am in Room E.

The companies are part of the Stockholm-Uppsala Life Science Investment Hotlist, consisting of updated investment cases, carefully curated by Invest Stockholm, the official investment promotion agency of Stockholm that helps investors focused on disruptive commercial innovation in life science find opportunities in Stockholm.
