Business in Stockholm continued its positive development during the fourth quarter of 2014.  Total wages show increasing growth, unemployment is falling, the number of vacancies increases and the number of new companies in both the county and city rose. This is what The Stockholm Economy Report for Q4 2014 shows.

The labor market has had a positive development. The number of job openings is increasing in both the county and the city. The number of layoffs decreases in the city, but increases in the county. Total wages increased during the fourth quarter of 2014 by 2.5 percent in the county and 2.7 percent in the city. The private sector showed the strongest growth.

The number of new businesses increases again, and the number of bankruptcies fell compared with the same quarter last year. During the fourth quarter, 5,992 new businesses were started in the county, of which 3,486 were in the city.

- It is very pleasing that the last quarter of 2014 shows growth for Stockholm and the entire year. Stockholm remains strong, says Olle Zetterberg, CEO for Stockholm Business Region.
