The award was received by Vice Mayor Ulf Kristersson and Hanna Brogren, Director of communications. Stockholm - The Capital of Scandinavia is named The Most Intelligent Community of the Year 2009. Stockholm has methodically and substantially redefined the possibilities of urban living and sets an example of how technology can play a role to enhance economic and social development.

Sten Nordin, Mayor of Stockholm:
"All citizens of Stockholm should feel proud as this prize shows the value of working together towards common goals. This is something that further positions Stockholm as a world-class IT-capital."

Ulf Kristersson, Vice Mayor:
"Stockholms schools, elderly homes and social services are all online, that´s the way we show that broadband and internet is as important for our public service in the City of Stockholm as for all private companies. Achieving this award 'the world's most intelligent city' in fierce competition is very flattering for the citizens of Stockholm."
