KASTHALL IN EXCLUSIVE COLLABORATION WITH LARA BOHINC

Given total creative freedom from Kasthall, Lara Bohinc, internationally acclaimed British designer and founder of London based Bohinc Studio, has created a limited collection of rugs, wall hanging and accessories for the home. Inspired by the serenity of Japanese rock gardens and supported by the design sensibility and skill of Kasthall, the patterns and the materials form a mesmerizing expression of style, function and heritage. The collection will launch on 26th March 2019 at Kasthall showroom and flagship store in Stockholm.

Lara Bohinc signature style is a mix of contradictions: bold yet light, graphic yet fluid, angular yet feminine. A passionate believer in the universality of good design and her ability to create iconic beauty is well reflected in the From the Sun to the Moon collection, inspired by ancient Japanese Zen gardens. The collection comprises two rugs, two wall hangings, and a range of decorative cushions. The palette of muted pastels, earth and rust are drawn from nature, and all the products are produced in Kasthall’s own factory in Kinna.

­– The patterns that I have designed are derived from my graphic language of opposing circles and curves with straight and angular geometric lines. It is all about contrasts and finding symmetry within asymmetry. The design rhythm was inspired by Japanese zen gardens, mixing full areas with cleaner empty spaces, says Lara Bohinc.

All of the works contain a mix of different wool grades and yarn types. Lara has twisted Kasthall’s famous high quality, natural materials and taken them to new heights. The entire collection has been created using woollen yarns and, in some places, a mixture of woollen and flax yarns. Selected elements have been tufted using overspun felting yarn, with both cut and loop pile, creating a glorious bouclé loop texture.

– The entire collection has Lara Bohinc's strong brand identity. She is an extraordinarily creative designer and has been working with Kasthall Design Studio to accomplish the desired products.

Wallhangings is a new exciting area for us and we have collaborated with Raw Moon Studio to develop the decorative brass jewelry and suspension concept, designed by Robin Mustonen. The collection is being exhibited at Kasthall Flagship Store in Stockholm from 26th of March, where some of Lara Bohinc’s furniture- and accessory designs can also be viewed for a couple of weeks, says Karin Wickberg, Marketing Director at Kasthall.

The From the Sun to the Moon collection will be on sale in the Kasthall Flagship Store at Ingmar Bergmansgata 4 in Stockholm and at www.bohincstudio.com from 26th March. The lead-time for a rug or wall hanging, which will be hand-tufted to order, is estimated at 8 weeks.

The collection will also be shown during the Milan Design Week and at the Wallpaper* Handmade Exhibition in April 2019.
