Thomas Andersson appointed new CEO of the Electrum Foundation and Kista Science City AB

Thomas Andersson will assume the role of CEO of the Electrum Foundation and Kista Science City AB in March. Thomas joins us from Stockholm Business Region Development (SBRD), where he is currently Chief Operating Officer.

At SBRD, Thomas’ responsibilities have included the 2012 Stockholm Meeting, the region’s involvement in the Mipim real estate fair and the Nobel breakfasts at the Royal Institute of Technology and Stockholm School of Economics. He also launched the World-Class Business Areas development project.

“It feels absolutely right for Thomas to join us as our new CEO,” says Ulf Wahlberg, Chairman of the Electrum Foundation and Vice President Industry and Research Relations at Ericsson AB. “He brings experience from both industry and the public sector, which is essential when working on the development of Kista Science City.”

Prior to SBRD, Thomas was Business Development Manager Sweden at Veidekke Bostad. He has also worked as Assistant Head of the City of Stockholm’s Finance Committee, with responsibilities including development and industry issues. He has worked with ICT, infrastructure and housing since the mid-1990s.

“The prospect of working to develop Sweden’s most dynamic region, Kista Science City, is both incredibly exciting and a great challenge,” says Thomas. “I will be focusing on continuing to develop the collaboration between academia, industry and the public sector on which Kista’s success is based. Attraction is a key word in this context. For me, this means more residents, more restaurants and more exciting meeting places.”
