Cameras at the ready

Maritime navigation expert, Nautisk™, is hoping to perfectly capture life at sea with its new photography competition launched this week. The 12-month long competition aims to document the excitement and challenges of commercial shipping, and entrants could be in with a chance of winning a Windows tablet computer.

The competition calls on mariners working both onboard and onshore to submit pictures that capture the joys and fears, the highs and lows, and the ins and outs of commercial shipping.

From the wildlife and landscapes to the cutting-edge technology and equipment, Nautisk has created five different categories for its photography competition. Each category represents a different aspect to commercial shipping, and the company hopes to highlight all areas of the industry through the competition.

John Dawson, Nautisk Marketing Manager, said: “Nautisk works closely with shipping companies across the globe, so we get to see first hand how spectacular commercial shipping can be. We are hoping that by launching the photography competition, we are able to share those amazing images and highlight the very best aspects of the industry.

“This year we’ve also partnered with the charity Polar Bears International as part of its Arctic Allies programme, so for every image submitted to ‘The Poles’ category, we will donate towards its cause to save polar bears.

“We are excited to see the images that get submitted, and we are looking forward to selecting our winners in 12 months time. Good luck everyone!”

Each month for the next 12 months, Nautisk will pick a photo from each category to go forward to the final judging. In June 2019 the overall winner will be picked from the 60 shortlisted photos, and that winner will receive a Windows tablet computer.
