NIST News - 14 August 2015

Welcome once again to a brand new school year! With Buildings 2 and 3 now completely renovated, our new World Languages Centre and Elementary Library in use, and the FlyNow Elementary Playground filled with wonderful new equipment, we're just as excited as the students! We're also looking forward to our new partnership with Chelsea FC and NIST's very first TEDx event. We expect that we will all soon be busy learning, so please take note of the upcoming dates, and enjoy your weekend.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS

Campus Development Updates

Following the completion of our improvements to Buildings 2 and 3, we've begun work on Building 1. As detailed earlier this week in an email from Head of School James MacDonald, this has made it necessary to move the school entrance to the area between the CAB and Secondary Building. If you have not yet had a chance, please review a summary of the changes on our  website.

Don't forget to stop by the new cafe in the Elementary Library for a coffee!

ECAs & SPORTS

Session 1 ECAs & Sports

Our first round of extra-curricular activities will open for registration on 20 August at 8:45 PM. The range of ECAs continues to expand at NIST, and we highly encourage all students to take part in the many enriching opportunities available to them. Participation in sports, the arts and other programmes helps children and teenager build confidence, teamwork and other key skills.

An email will be sent from our ECAs Department this evening with additional details about the available options and sign-up procedures. Students interested in trying out for a Falcon competitive sports team can access the tryout schedule on the  Falcon Sports Blog.

Launch of Chelsea FC NIST Football Programme & Soccer School

As announced at the end of the previous semester, NIST is entering into an exciting partnership with Chelsea Football Club, one of the most elite sports teams in the entire world. In addition to having two full-time Chelsea coaches based on NIST and the inclusion of a Chelsea-run ECA, other opportunities will also be available to our students through evening and weekend programmes.

For more information about the pathways being offered by Chelsea FC, visit our  web page. Additional details about the specific numbers of students and pricing for each group will be uploaded later this evening. In order to provide opportunities for the maximum number of students, Chelsea FC has aimed to keep the fees as low as possible while adhering to the club's high standards.

Parents are also invited to join an information session that will take place next Wednesday, 19 August, from 9:00 - 10:00 AM in the NIST Theatre. This session will allow you to hear more about Chelsea FC firsthand from the coaches, and also learn more about the programmes here at NIST.
