HMSHost-Umoe F&B Company introduces Food Truck Festival concept to Oslo Airport Gardermoen

HMSHost-Umoe F&B Company - a joint venture between Umoe Restaurants and HMSHost International, providing food and beverage services at airports in Norway - has been awarded a 5-year contract by Avinor to bring urban food market concept Food Truck Festival to the Oslo Airport, Gardermoen (Non-Schengen). As of fall 2017, Food Truck Festival will offer a variety of catering options for travelers to enjoy at the terminal, featuring a vibrant environment with urban style trucks, stylish caravans and a small tuktuk. Wherever they are heading to, travelers of all ages will now start their trip at Norway's largest airport with a sense of fun and excitement.

Food Truck Festival was designed with the idea of bringing the ‘downtown Oslo’ feel to the airport and, at the same time, cater to the needs of people on the move through five restaurants: Joyride, The Pizza Wheel, Number Juan, Cracked/Roasted and Tailgate. Each of them will be housed in a differently styled truck – creating an exciting experience for customers. The popular and colorful Blå area in Oslo – better known for its great atmosphere and scattered greenery - has been the inspiration to design the Food Truck Festival concept.

«We are very proud to introduce ‘Food Truck Festival’ at Oslo Airport, Gardermoen (Non-Schengen). The concept is inspired by the transformation of the street food market globally and in Norway», says Per Christensen, General Manager HMSHost-Umoe F&B Company. «This is a new way of both presenting and experiencing food and drinks at the terminal, and we believe that this will add value to the total experience at Oslo Airport. We want to provide people on the move to spend their time prior to a flight in a truly enjoyable way, and have a more comfortable journey. That’s where the Food Truck Festival makes the difference. We appreciate that Avinor has chosen us to develop such an innovative and exciting concept.»

Both at the start of their trip, and as a last memory of Norway before returning to their countries of origin, travelers will be able to choose between five different culinary options. Whilst Joyride offers a wide variety of fresh, healthy ‘comfort’ food – salads, juices & sammies - the Pizza Wheel is all about giving a new twist to the classic (and authentic) Neapolitan-style pizza. Cracked/Roasted offers fast and delicious breakfast dishes and flavourful buns with tasty fillings throughout the day. Number Juan brings Mexico to Oslo in a colorful and tasty way through burritos, tacos and salad bowls; Tailgate allows the traveller to kick back and relax with carefuly selected Carlsberg beers, local craft taps and micro brews. A true festival for taste!
