Over 10,000 Sri Lankan university students to receive EF English language training sponsored by the U.S. Embassy Colombo

The United States Government and the Sri Lanka Ministry of Education are collaborating to provide 10,200 undergraduates in Sri Lanka with online English training delivered by EF Education First, the world’s leading international education company.

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed last Wednesday on the lawn of the Cinnamon Lakeside Hotel in Colombo and symbolized a coordinated effort to support Sri Lanka’s higher education system and to raise the job skills of the country’s graduates. The Minister of Education in Sri Lanka, S.B. Dissanayake, stated the Sri Lankan government's goal of making Sri Lanka an educational hub for Asia and improving the English abilities of the country's university students. During the signing ceremony, Patricia Butenis, US Ambassador to Sri Lanka, reiterated the importance of English to help graduates find lucrative jobs in the global economy. Supporting this campaign, EF Education First, the language learning solutions provider, has designed a customized online English training platform that will be easily accessible to university students starting this spring.  Thanks to the flexibility and availability of the online learning tools, EF is making it much simpler to benchmark English levels nationally with clear standards, and deliver English learning tools where they are needed most.
