EF’s CIO named China’s Top Innovator

EF is proud to announce that Dr. Enio Ohmaye, EF’s CIO and CXO, has been selected in the 9th annual “Top 50 CIO in China” from the IT Manager World and International Data Group (IDG), recognizing his work in pushing EF to the forefront of innovation in the private education sector.  He shared this honor with CIOs from China industry giants, such as Harbin Bank, Sohu.com, and China Development Bank.

“I am honored by the recognition. I have always believed in technology’s potential to provide not just content, but meaningful educational experiences to millions of students,” says Dr. Ohmaye, “I am tremendously proud of our progress at EF and am excited for the coming years in online education.”

Innovation has long been core to EF’s mission. Dr. Ohmaye’s mission has been central to not only keeping EF at the forefront of technology, but also fostering a culture of innovation within the company. From being the first to provide 24/7 live English teacher to pushing learning beyond the classroom to the latest mobile devices, Dr. Ohmaye’s leadership has been vital throughout. In recent years, responding to the need to maintain agility in the face of a growing business, Dr. Ohmaye organized EF Labs, a research and development incubator with over 200 developers and linguists focused on developing innovative social and mobile learning solutions.

In the early 90s, Dr. Enio Ohmaye worked at Apple Computer as senior scientist before joining English First with the goal of changing the language learning experience. As Chief Information Officer, Enio Ohmaye, PhD is responsible for the design and development of EF online school, Englishtown.
