Nobel Peace Center activities for the Nobel days 2017: Press program and accreditation

The press accreditation for the official events during the Nobel days in Oslo in December is open. Please note that some of the events require separate accreditation - there is no joint accreditation. Below you will find details on the press events at the Nobel Peace Center in connection with this year's Nobel days:

Friday, December 8th: Press release of the Peace Prize Exhibition 2017

Welcome to the preview of the Peace Prize Exhibition 2017. The exhibition will officially open on December 11th and will open to the public on December 12th, 2017. Accreditation is not required.

Saturday, December 9th: Press release of the Peace Prize Exhibition 2017

Welcome to the preview of the Peace Prize Exhibition 2017. The exhibition will officially open on December 11th and will open to the public on December 12th, 2017. Accreditation is not required.

Saturday, December 9th: Meeting with Mayors from Hiroshima, Nagasaki and Oslo

Unique meeting between the three mayors from Hiroshima, Nagasaki and Oslo who will visit the Nobel Peace Center together to see the exhibition Ban the Bomb. It will be particularly powerful when the mayors view the part of the exhibition where personal objects from the victims of the nuclear bombs in Hiroshima and Nagasaki are exhibited. Accreditation is not required.

Saturday, December 9th: Meeting with survivors from Hiroshima and Nagasaki

Peace Prize winner ICAN has invited 30 survivors from Nagasaki and Hiroshima to Oslo to attend the award ceremony of the Nobel Peace Prize. The 30 survivors will meet the media when they view the exhibition Ban the Bomb on Saturday, December 9th at 17:00. Several objects belonging to the victims of the nuclear bombs in Hiroshima and Nagasaki will be exhibited, which will likely produce rich photographic opportunities.

Sunday, December 10th: Save the Children's Peace Prize Celebration

Save the Children's Peace Prize celebration is a party organized by and for children, where the honorary guest is the year's peace prize winner. HKH Crown Princess Mette Marit will attend the celebration, along with famous artists. The press can make an appointment to interview the children who organize the Peace Prize party. Sunday, December 10th: Screening of the Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony at the Nobel Peace Center

The Nobel Peace Center will show the entire Nobel ceremony on a big screen. ICAN activists, organizations, media, politicians and other people will gather here for an unpretentious viewing of the Nobel ceremony. Those who think the ceremony in the City Hall becomes too stiff, can meet here and experience it with the people.

Sunday, December 10th: Presentation of multimedia installation «The Bomb» at the Rockefeller

In connection with the award of the Nobel Peace Prize to ICAN, the Nobel Peace Center and Norwegian People's Aid invite you to an exclusive presentation of the groundbreaking multimedia installation. «The Bomb»had its international premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2016 and is now coming to Oslo as part of its world tour. The film has, among other things, been performed at the Glastonbury Festival and was selected as the Berlinale Special at the Berlin Film Festival earlier this year. «The Bomb» is art, technology and politics. The audience is placed in the middle of the history of nuclear weapons and their marvelous and disturbing reality. It's a movie that includes unique archive material along with animation, text and live music. The band The Acid will come to Oslo to perform live music and one of The Bomb’s creators, award-winning author Eric Schlosser will introduce the installation.

Time: Sunday, 10 December. Doors open at 15:00, program from 15:30-17.00.

Monday, December 11th: Opening of the Peace Prize Exhibition 2017

Since 2005, the Nobel Peace Center has created an annual peace prize exhibition. This year's exhibition is the thirteenth of the series and highlights the work of ICAN, the nuclear bomb and the fight for a nuclear weapon-free world. The Peace Prize Exhibition always opens the day after the Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony at the City Hall, and is opened by the peace prize winner.

Time: December 11, 16:45 (The press must arrive no later than 16:00)
