For the twentieth year in a row, O’Learys awards the franchisees of the year, to celebrate the restaurants that have excelled and been a part of developing the operation of O’Learys. This year’s eight winners have all contributed to the development of the restaurants’ offers and have delivered outstanding service as well as experiences to the guests. The winners were announced during the celebration of O’Learys 30thanniversary.

O’Learys Östersund – Rookie of the year 2018
This restaurant opened the doors only a few months ago, but are already working actively to integrate with the whole community by engaging in local associations and community projects. Our franchisee has built an attractive workplace by letting our core values; Fair, Passionate and Proud, infuse everything in the restaurant.
The restaurant has fair working conditions and fair attitude towards both staff and guests. They show passion by giving all the staff the opportunity to develop and take responsibility. The staff are very proud of their work and for their restaurant and are always doing the little extra.
O’Learys Kristiine, Tallinn – Innovator of the year 2018
This restaurant has taken the eatertainment segment of O’Learys to a new level and offers two full size movie theatres inside the restaurant. From tablets, you can order drinks and food before and during the movie. They have also extended the event part of the restaurant to a new level by adding virtual reality games such as motorcycle and roller coaster. In the kids’ corner, they offer the first ever animated sandbox in O’Learys, a much-appreciated interactive game for our young fans. This restaurant’s innovation and motivation to try new concepts has proven to be a success
Nancy Bellander, O’Learys Helsingborg – Ambassador of the year
After many years in the chain, this franchisee still shows the same determination and will to make her restaurant top class year after year. Even after setbacks, she still wants to put all her effort in the restaurant and increase the size by rebuilding both the bar and the kitchen and open a game room with events. She is very respected by staff, colleagues and fellow franchisees. She is not afraid to help out in the restaurant wherever it is needed. She is engaged in the future of our brand, and with a positive approach she wants to do this journey together with O’Learys Trademark.

Every time you visit this restaurant, you feel welcome in such a warm way that you completely forget your travel fatigue. This restaurant has proven that with passionate leaders and passionate team makes all the difference. They have shown a 50% growth in sales YTD, and 4,9 score in guest feedback with constantly fantastic comments about the staff and food.
The skillful team at this restaurant shows that, by working with upselling and following the concept gives high scores in mystery shopper and an excellent sales result.
O’Learys Halmstad – Franchisee of the Year 2018 category Event
This unit has truly proven that investing time and money into recruitment, education, staff training and soft values, really is what matters to standout in the tough competition today. With great trust, the franchisee has given the unit manager, the confidence to manage the restaurant and his team, to success and building loyalty amongst both staff and fans within the whole county. Alexander Petersson is such an inspiring and respected person by whomever you ask and is truly, with all his heart, a great ambassador for the brand. With their new lunch concept, they have become the talk of the town and new events and projects are always in the making.
The will to deliver quality is very important for this team, both front and back of house. You can see the results in both revenue streams, concept care as well as guest compliance and staff appraisals. No detail is too small in this big restaurant and the mindset ”doing it with passion” is obeyed all day every day.
O’Learys Lund – Franchisee of the Year 2018 category Classic
A unit where you really can feel that warm familiar atmosphere when entering. The franchisee has put a lot of confidence in his restaurant manager, who has been able to build and train his loyal and service-minded team, like a small family. Their mystery shopper results as well as ratings on social media has always been on top in the region.
After a few tough years, they chose to expand the restaurant with a game room. Since that expansion, the sales have increased by almost 30% in an otherwise tough year for the restaurant business, which is truly amazing. This is a great example of when a franchise really feels and functions as a family-owned, successful, neighborhood bar and restaurant and meeting place.
O’Learys Avenyn – Social Media of the Year 2018
This restaurant follows our graphic profile but creates their own material that really puts the sport, food and staff in the front seat – fully in line with our brand strategy. By having a good marketing budget and by advertising in a smart way, they continuously reach a lot of people. The restaurant creates its own events and campaigns and makes sure to always renew themselves to give the guests a good experience. They are also quick to respond in a nice way to their guests’ feedback and comments on social media.
O’Learys Järntorget – Meal4Meal 2018
The winner of this year’s award for Meal4Meal is O’Learys Järntorget who wins on index; most sold dishes in relation to sales of food during the period January - September 2018. Meal4Meal is a CSR project run by O’Learys in partnership with UNA Sweden in which our restaurants and guests have contributed to more than 2,4 million school meals in Ethiopia and DR Congo.
