Joint project between the Ports of Helsinki and Tallinn receives EUR 11.3 million in funding support

On 16 October 2013, during the TEN-T Days 2013, European Commissioner for Transport, Siim Kallas, signed an agreement towards funding support of EUR 11.3 million for a joint project called Twin-Ports, between the Port of Helsinki and the Port of Tallinn.

The EU funding support will be used to improve and increase the capacity of ferry traffic between Helsinki and Tallinn. The total value of investments is EUR 56.3 million, and the support will cover 20 % of the costs. The Port of Helsinki will receive 76% of the support, while the Port of Tallinn will receive 24%.

The Twin-Port project is part of the TEN-T (Trans-European Network) MoS (Motorways of the Seas) Multi-Annual 2012-2015 programme.
