Powel announces new Vice President Business Transformation

Powel is delighted to announce the appointment of Eilert Bjerkan as Vice President Business Transformation for Powel in Europe.

Bjerkan brings to his role extensive abilities in innovation, product strategy, and management from many leadership positions in Nortroll, NTE, and Enfo. The latest as a Vice President Utilities in Kongsberg Digital, responsible for establishing and developing the business unit.

“We are very pleased to welcome Eilert to Powel. His extensive knowledge about innovation, management, and product strategy, combined with industry insights, will be an important asset to Powel," says Trond Straume, CEO at Powel group.

Serving a rapidly changing market

"Powel is serving a rapidly changing market with an increased need for more advanced software. The business value enabled by high-quality software is essential to meet this demand. Eilert’s experience is a perfect fit for these needs,” says Straume.

The Vice President Business Transformation is set out to accelerate growth and business transformation targeting the space between electric utilities and energy producers in Europe. This includes supporting Powel’s business units in developing the product strategies needed to address opportunities in new markets.

“This is a great opportunity to work with a dedicated solution-provider with a strong position to deliver on future needs of digital utilities. Climate action and electrification opens a lot of exciting, new opportunities related to grid optimisation and flexibility management,” says Eilert Bjerkan.

The energy industry is undergoing rapid change with the green transformation, smart power, and sensor technology. Powel has expert tools that enable grid companies to design, maintain, control, analyse and monitor the power grid in real-time.

Further growth outside the Nordics

Powel’s software solutions have been market-leaders in the Nordic region for the past 30 years. Bjerkan will work for further growth across Europe.

“Accelerating growth in new markets is challenging, especially during value chain transformations like we now see in the energy sector. Rapid development and failing fast requires working with start-ups and scale-ups to develop new opportunities in parallel to driving innovation to existing products and services. Being able to maintain core capabilities whilst working with customers to identify new business requirements is key to success.” says Bjerkan.
