Kommuninvest announces plans for new Green Bond

Kommuninvest has today announced plans to issue a new green bond, the fifth to date and the third in Swedish kronor. Nordea, SEB and Swedbank have been appointed lead managers for the transaction. The transaction can be expected in the near future, market conditions permitting.

Under its Green Bonds framework, Kommuninvest finances Swedish municipal investment projects in eight areas, including renewable energy, energy efficiency, green buildings, public transport, water management and waste management.

As of 9 October 2018, Kommuninvest's portfolio of Green loans amounted to a total of 209 projects in 98 municipalities and county councils/regions. In total, SEK 35.2 billion had been committed, of which SEK 22.8 billion had been disbursed.

Kommuninvest finances the Green loans through Green Bonds issuance. To date, Kommuninvest has issued a total of SEK 17.5 billion in four transactions, making Kommuninvest Sweden's largest green bond issuer.

Kommuninvest’s role as an aggregator and conduit issuer for cost-efficient funding of public sector investments has been recognized by the United Nations, which awarded Kommuninvest its United Nations ‘Momentum for Change’ Climate Solutions Award, in connection with the COP23 climate conference in Bonn, Germany, in 2017.
