Sigma Connectivity Announces Cooperation with Broadcom on Wearable Reference Design

Sigma Connectivity AB, a leading Engineering Design House based in Sweden, today announced a collaboration with Broadcom Corporation on a reference platform for wearable devices. The ultra-compact Connectivity Reference Design - CRED - features a 32x30mm form factor and encompasses Broadcom’s latest low-power platform for Android Wear.

In addition to an advanced application processor (AP) and Broadcom’s leading Wi-Fi and Bluetooth combo chip, customers can choose to integrate GPS with Sensor Hub processing, near field communication (NFC), wireless charging support and camera support based on their specific product needs.

Thanks to its compact size and performance with low power, CRED is a perfect fit for any wearable Internet of Things (IoT) product, enabling faster time-to-market for customers in a wide variety of industries. CRED is offered as a turnkey solution, but can also be tailored, in regards of size and features, for specific customer needs with robust software solutions.

“We see growing demand from our customers to quickly integrate advanced connectivity features in a broad spectrum of new wearable applications,” said Fredrik Hedlund, Sigma Connectivity CEO. “Our new Broadcom-enabled CRED reference design allows us to serve this need in a very cost-efficient way.”

“By combining processing power and connectivity in an ultra-low-power reference design, companies large and small have access to the technologies required to develop innovative wearable products,” said Larry Olivas, Broadcom Senior Director, Business Development.
