New Organizational Reforms and Personnel Changes

IWATA, December 25, 2014 - Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd (Tokyo: 7272) announced at today’s Board of Directors Meeting, Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. resolved to implement the following organizational reforms and personnel changes, effective Thursday, January 01, 2015.

Organizational changes (effective January 1, 2015)

1.New Establishment of the Financial Service Business Development Section

In order to further promote the financial service business, the Financing Business Group, which currently belongs to the Corporate Planning Division of the Corporate Planning & Finance Center, will be made into an independent Financial Service Business Development Section.

2.New Establishment of the Corporate Communication Division

In order to improve the quality and precision of communicated information and brand value, the Corporate Communication Division will be established under the Corporate Planning & Finance Center.

・A progressive reorganization will eliminate the Public Relations & Advertising Division of the Human Resources & General Affairs Center, and its function will be transferred to the Corporate Communication Division. Furthermore, the investor relations and corporate brand, as well as the shareholder relations functions of the Corporate Planning & Finance Center's Finance & Accounting Division will also be transferred and amalgamated to the Corporate Communication Division.

3.Reorganization of the Motorcycle Business Operations

Following the aggregation and strengthening of the Company's monozukuri functions enabled by the introduction of platform models, the Motorcycle Business Operations will be reorganized in order to strengthen the function of its business operations.

・In order to promote efficient planning operations in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Business Units of the Motorcycle Business Operations, product planning and business planning functions that belonged to the respective Business Promotion Divisions will be aggregated.

・Product planning will be handled by the newly-established Product Planning Division under the 1st Business Unit. Business planning will be handled by the Business Planning Division under the 2nd Business Unit.

・In the 3rd Business Unit, the Marketing Sales Planning Division will be newly established, which will standardize and plan sales processes across all three business units in order to strengthen the Company's sales performance.

・The Marketing & Sales Division in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Business Units will be renamed the Sales Division.


4.Reorganization of Marine Business Operations

Each function of the Marine Engine Business Unit, Water Vehicle Business Unit, and Boat Business Unit will be reorganized with the aim of maximizing the synergy between these three marine businesses.  

  • In order to enforce the marketing strength of the marine business overall on a global scale, the sales and service functions of each business will be aggregated to newly form the Marketing Division. Under this division, the Planning Division, 1st Marketing Division, 2nd Marketing Division, and Service Division will be established.
  • For the Marine Engine Business Unit, a progressive reorganization will eliminate the Engineering Section to form an organization that handles the development and manufacturing functions of the outboard motor business. Under this business unit, the Business Planning Division, Technology Planning Division, Design Division, CAE & Testing Engineering Division, Quality Assurance Division, and ME Manufacturing Division will be established.
  • The Boat Business Unit will become the organization that handles the development and manufacturing of Water Vehicles and boats. Under this business unit, the Business Planning Division, Boat Development Division, Engine Development Division, and Manufacturing Division will be established.

5.Renaming of Business Development Operations

The Business Development Operations will be renamed the Vehicle & Solution Business Operations in order to further clarify its six business territories that include the IM Business Unit, Recreational Vehicle Business Unit, Smart Power Vehicle Business Unit, UMS Business Development Section, Pool Business Development Section, and Yamaha Motor Powered Products Co., Ltd.
