New Organizational Reforms and Personnel Changes

IWATA, July 14, 2017 - Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. announces the following organizational reforms and personnel changes, effective July 15, 2017.

■Organizational reforms

  1. Technology Center

    The organization of the “Technology Center” will be changed to strengthen electric mobility technology and product development functions.

    - The electric motorcycle development functions of the “Advanced Mobility Development Division” and the “2nd Development Division, Smart Power Vehicle Business Unit, Vehicle & Solution Business Operations” will be integrated and become the new “EM Development Section” established under the “Technology Center.” In addition, the new “EM Body Development Division” and “Component Technology Division” will be established under the “EM Development Section.”

  2. Vehicle & Solution Business Operations

    The organization of the “Vehicle & Solution Business Operations” will be changed to optimize the organization of the respective business units and business development sections.

    1) Reorganization of the IM Business Unit
    The “IM Business Unit” will be reorganized to strengthen the organizational functions of the mounter and robot businesses to suit their expanding scale.

    - The new “Surface Mount Technology Section” and “Factory Automation Section” will be established under the “IM Business Unit.”
    - The following divisions will have their names changed and be repositioned under the “Surface Mount Technology Section”: The “1st SMT Engineering Division” will become the “Advanced Engineering Division,” the “2nd SMT Engineering Division” will become the “Product Engineering Division,” the “1st SMT Sales & Marketing Division” will become the “Domestic Sales & Marketing Division,” and the “2nd SMT Sales & Marketing Division” will become the “Overseas Sales & Marketing Division.”
    - The “Robot Business Division” will be divided into the “Sales & Marketing Division” and the “Engineering Division,” and be repositioned under the “Factory Automation Section.”

    2) Name change in the Smart Power Vehicle Business Unit
    Due to the transfer of the “2nd Development Division” to the “Technology Center,” the “1st Development Division” will be renamed the “Engineering Division.”

    3) Reorganization of the UMS Business Development Section
    The “UMS Business Development Section” will be reorganized to improve the quality of procured components.

    - Procurement and Quality Assurance functions will be integrated into the new Business Planning & Control Division” established under the “UMS Business Development Section.”
