A man called Ove selected as Sweden’s nomination for an Oscar

It was announced today that the Swedish Film Institute has nominated A Man Called Ove (En man som heter Ove), produced by SF Studios, to represent Sweden for Best Foreign Language Film at the Academy Awards gala on February 26th, 2017.

The film is a story about Ove, a grumpy yet loveable man who finds his solitary world turned on its head when a boisterous young family moves in next door.

The film is based on the best-selling Swedish novel by Fredrik Backman published in 2012. The English language version of this book have been on the New York Times bestseller list for over 30 weeks.

A Man Called Ove premiered in Sweden on Christmas Day, 2015 and has been a huge hit with over 1 700 000 admissions at the box-office – the third most successful domestic film ever in Sweden.
