Swedish Maria Doré appointed new chairperson of EurAdopt

Ms Maria Doré, Program Officer at Adoptionscentrum, was today appointed as new chairperson of EurAdopt.

Ms Maria Doré work as a Program Officer at Adoptionscentrum, and has been co-ordinating the adoption programs in the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam among other countries.

Mr Jonas Friberg, the chairperson of the board of Adoptionscentrum is happy and very proud on behalf of Maria and the organisation.

- Maria will be an excellent chairperson and her extensive international experience will carry the work forward to continue to make EurAdopt the natural interlocutor for other countries' organisations, the Central Authorities and the Secretariat in The Hague. We are proud that we in this way, through our employee Maria Doré, will contribute to giving a more prominent role as an adoption country.

The bi-annual General Meeting of Euradopt is concluded today in Stockholm. The two first days of the meeting were open to the public and was carried out with the theme:  ”Adoption for the right reasons; an option for permanency”.

Adoptionscentrum was founded in 1969 and has three main areas of activities. 25 000 children from over 50 countries have acquired a new family through Adoptionscentrum.

Adoptionscentrum is currently working with authorities and non governmental organisations (NGO’s) in over 20 countries.

Adoptionscentrum is a non-profit members' organisation with more than 5000 member families, the majority of whom are adoptive parents. These are organised into 24 regional subdivisions throughout Sweden. Adoptionscentrum has through international development cooperation contributed to more than 120 different projects in more than 20 countries.
