European cyber security seminar is launched

Business Security brought together cyber security experts and participating organisations to discuss the complexity of cyber security in the seminar “Cyber security, a mutual challenge” on February 12 in Oslo, Norway.  

In today’s global and connected world, the importance of cyber security has risen on national and global agendas. To highlight the many aspects of cyber security Business Security, and its Norwegian partner Bedriftssystemer AS, co-hosted a seminar entitled, “Cyber security, a mutual challenge,” at the Swedish Embassy in Oslo, Norway, on February 12, 2013.

“With a growing number of cyber threats there is a need to increase the awareness and knowledge of how to protect ourselves against their damaging effects on critical infrastructure, organisational confidentiality, and even our privacy as individuals. Cyber security is a complex term, but it affects everyone,” says Jonas Dellenvall, Security Expert at Business Security.

The seminar, which took place at the Swedish Ambassador’s residence in Oslo, featured speakers including Ole Tom Seierstad, Chief Security Advisor at Microsoft Norway; Johan Lindberg and Tommi Pohjaniemi, Information Security and Assurance consultants at Combitech, and Björn Edman, Security Expert at I2G.

Presentations highlighted the difficulty of defining the term cyber security, illustrated the need for an ongoing international collaboration for cyber security regulations and management, brought forth examples of concrete cyber threats, as well as called for the need of improving the cyber security related competence within organisations, both in terms of secure technologies, but also in terms of educating staff about the possible risks in their daily work.

The Oslo event premiered Business Security’s new seminar concept. Throughout 2013 Business Security will continue to bring its cyber security seminars to selected European countries in collaboration with local partners.
“Business Security is an specialist on network security challenges. By combining our extensive cyber security know-how with the expertise of external professionals and organisations, we hope to educate and remove some of the complexity around cyber security,” says Jonas Dellenvall.
