Bactiguard donates 50,000 catheters to Libya

The Swedish medtech company company, Bactiguard has donated 50,000 catheters, valued at 1,000,000 U.S. dollars, and delivered them directly to the Libyan minister of health during a Swedish delegation held in Tripoli last week. Christian Kinch, the CEO and owner of Bactiguard, was personally present in Benghazi and Tripoli, to visit the hospitals which will be receiving the Bactiguard catheters. At present, there are approximately 50,000 people in Libya in need of medical care, suffering from injuries attained during the civil war which began on February 7th, 2011.

“It was sad to see how bad off the Libyan hospitals are, where the supplies are meager. I truly hope that our donation reaches those afflicted, and that other companies will also make donations, as the need for help is so great”, says Christian Kinch.

On Tuesday, April 3rd, the catheters arrived by plane to Tripoli and Benghazi, to be distributed throughout the country next week.

The delegation in Libya was led by the Swedish Secretary of State Gunnar Oom and Sweden´s ambassador in Libya, Jan Thesleff. A mini documentary was made during the trip by Linda Nyberg, Director of Public Relations and Communications at Bactiguard, filmed by Kristjan Sigurjonsson.
