In Transit – Beckmans Design Collaboration 2019 at Stockholm Furniture Fair

Beckmans College of Design presents seven design collaborations at Stockholm Furniture Fair, February 5th–9th.

Project with seven Swedish furniture companies

In this year’s collaboration, 15 final-year students from the Product Design program meet seven of Sweden’s formeost furniture producers: David Design, Gärsnäs, Johanson Design, SA Möbler, String, Swedese and Woodstockholm.

The companies have challenged the students with a brief and shared their time and expertise with them. The students have analysed the companies, twisted and turned issues, explored materials and constructions. The result can be viewed in the Greenhouse section, showcase C16:22 during the fair. Collaboration on several levels

In Transit is not just a collaboration project between students and companies but just as much a collaboration between students as well as between study programs at Beckmans College of Design. The Product Design students have worked together in teams of 2-3 people with one company each. Meanwhile, a group of students in Visual Communication have interpreted the project and created a visual identity where print, webdesign, visual media and spatial graphics communicate Beckmans College of Design’s participation at Stockholm Furniutre Fair 2019.

–Unique to Beckmans College of Design is our collaborations with professional clients and between the programs. The collaboration with some of Sweden's foremost furniture producers during the last academic year at the Product Design program is a very important part of the education where the students undertake an external assignment at a high creative and professional level, which makes them well-equipped for the working life, says Margot Barolo, Program Director of Product Design.
