​Get to know Bergenstråhle’s Emina Cehaja

We had a chat with one of our great colleagues from the Värnamo office, Emina Cehaja, about her background, her interest in intellectual property, and how she got in contact with Bergenstråhle & Partners.

Emina Cehaja is 25 years old, born in Banja Luka, Bosnia and Hercegovina but currently living in Värnamo, Sweden. Her family fled the war in Yugoslavia when she was young, and they ultimately ended up in Värnamo.

– I grew up in Värnamo, but in 2011 I moved to Landskrona to study law at Lund University. While studying in Lund I interned at the Göta Court of Appeal in Jönköping and at a law firm in Växjö, Juristbyrån i Växjö. Towards the later part of my studies I decided to study abroad at the Seoul National University in South Korea. In Seoul I took classes in intellectual property and during those classes I developed an interest for intellectual property. This was one of the reasons why I choose intellectual property as a subject for my final thesis. The thesis analyzed whether or not a disclosure requirement of origin of genetic resources should be included in patent applications.

After her studies, Emina took some time off before she joined Bergenstråhle as an Attorney at Law, with her main tasks being the legal aspects of trademarks, design and copyright as well as legal disputes.

– After completing my studies I received a message on LinkedIn from our CEO Peter Friedrichsen, and I got excited about the opportunity to join Bergenstråhle here in Värnamo. A little more than three months later I had my first day as a “Bergenstråhlare”. It has now been one year and three months since that first day and I’m so happy to be here!
