Big Brands Ready for Fashion Week by Berns

The next Fashion Week by Berns will be held 1-3 February, 2010. The interest of participating brands has increased since last season and the coming week is expected to attract most of the major Swedish brands.

The ninth edition of Fashion Week by Berns will proudly host a full schedule over three days, including some of the biggest brands in Sweden. 17 designers will break their A/W 2010-11 collections in the coming week, among them Acne, Carin Wester, Cheap Monday, Hope, Whyred, Filippa K and Dagmar. In addition there is also a great interest from several brands from Denmark, Iceland and Finland to participate.

"Despite the tough economic situation recently, we are happy to present the best of Swedish fashion this season", says Annika Frisch, Marketing Director of Berns Salonger.

Acne and Hope are two of the brands choosing to invest big in the coming Fashion Week by Berns.

"We will see a strong and exciting restart of the fashion week, and for Acne it will be very exciting to be part of this," says Mikael Schiller, CEO of Acne Studios.

"Sweden and Swedish fashion is unique. We want Fashion Week by Berns to be synonymous with offering something special and Swedish and joining all of our Swedish brands in the same programme is the best way to highlight the existing creative spirit. We anticipate a future week involving more parts of city, the public and shops. All international fashion weeks have their own special character, and so does Stockholm", says Ann Ringstrand, designer and founder of Hope.

During the week, students from Beckman's College of Design will also show a unique collection of knitted creations.

The main sponsors of the week, Max Factor, Mercedes-Benz and 3, support the event with both presentations and exclusive events. Max Factor presents its annual Award Show - a catwalk show of a selected, promising designer. Mercedes-Benz will again build their Fashion Pavilion in the Kungsträdgården area of Stockholm and, among other things, present their Young Fashion Industry Award winner. As a new sponsor for this season, 3, has chosen to profile themselves in cooperation with a few selected designers of Fashion Week by Berns and support their shows especially.

"We already see that it will be a very strong week of shows and a clear improvement compared to June, which pleases us very much" says Annika Frisch, Marketing Director of Berns Salonger.
