FiBAN brings Helsinki investment know-how to Connect2Capital 2017

At Connect2Capital we find networking between neighboring countries to be extremely. With that said, we are excited to announce that we will have representation from Finland at Connect2Capital. The Finnish Business Angels Network – FiBAN -- will be joining Connect2Capital once again for another great year.

FiBAN is a Finnish association of private investors that aims to improve the possibilities for private persons to invest in unlisted potential growth companies. FiBAN today has over 500 approved private investor members and several hundred investment opportunities. The association’s work is based on contributions to the development of Finnish businesses and to the birth of new jobs via potential growth companies.

Amongst other things, they offer:

  • A national, non-profit private investors’ association.
  • Startup investing best practices and training sessions.
  • Deal flow matching and formation of angel syndicates.

We interviewed FiBAN Networking Manager Claes Mikko Nilsen to see what he had to say about Connect2Capital. Claes Mikko is the co-founder of FiBAN and responsible for communication and network relations. While FiBAN has great access to investors in Stockholm, they are looking to broaden their horizon by increasing attention to the Western Nordics.

What’s the core value of Connect2Capital to FiBAN?

That the event successfully gathers some of the main players of the Western Nordics startup ecosystem in one place. It’s a melting pot.

This is not your first time at Connect2Capital. What made you return for another visit?

Our investor network is highly interested in building personal relationships with the local investor community. We’re already set up in Stockholm, but are looking to get more work related friends in the western part of the region.

What’s the main attraction of Connect2Capital?

The afterparties, spiced with the southern Swedish dialect, haha!

Why do you feel that Finnish and Western Nordic business relationships are important?

Globally our area is seen as a single market. International investors aren’t looking for Helsinki deal flow, but rather Nordic. We have to retain a regional scope.

If you would like to meet with FiBAN at C2C don’t by shy! We hear the Finns are quite friendly. If you haven’t already signed up for Connect2Capital, it’s time to do so now before it’s too late!

Connect2Capital is the venue that offers growth companies, investors and other actors in funding the ideal place to meet in an efficient and inspiring way. The forum is featuring emerging technology companies across various streams such as ICT, Industry, Life Sciences Technology and more. Gothenburg is located in an exciting region at the center of northern European regional growth and development by connecting Oslo and Copenhagen in the heart of western Sweden.

During two days we facilitate growth by providing matchmaking and pre-booked meetings. The program contains a wide range of keynotes discussing present trends and success stories, and for the third year in a row we're teaming up with Startup Grind to bring you a truly relevant event.
